Information

America 's only Nobel Prize winning playwright, Eugene Gladstone O'Neill, chose to live in California at the climax of his writing career. He and his wife, Carlotta, built and lived at Tao House in the hills above Danville from 1937 to 1944. Isolated from the world and within the walls of his home, O'Neill wrote his final and most memorable plays; "The Iceman Cometh," "Long Day's Journey Into Night," and "A Moon For the Misbegotten."

Visitation to Tao House is by reserved tour only. Tours are available Wednesday through Sunday, at 10am and 12:30pm . Tours last approximately 2.5 hours, including travel time on park shuttle, guided tour, and time to wander the grounds after the tour. Visitor center and bookstore are available
