HEAV is a member-supported, statewide, nonprofit homeschool association that operates from a biblical worldview. HEAV serves all homeschoolers and since 1983 has worked tirelessly to promote and protect homeschool interests in Virginia through information, legislation, and resources. |
HEAV offers a FREE magazine and e-newsletter containing up-to-date information and encouragement for homeschool families. They also offer one of the largest homeschool conventions in the country, a gigantic used curriculum sale, a statewide graduation ceremony, Homeschool Success Seminars, and more! HEAV works to promote and protect homeschooling in Virginia. They have a full-time lobbyist at the General Assembly and work with legislators and the Department of Education to develop homeschool-friendly laws and policy. With full-time office staff and hundreds of dedicated volunteers, they're ready to answer questions, offer support, and serve your needs. |

Each June, HEAV offers a yearly homeschool convention featuring speakers and
exhibitors from all across the country. The convention includes FREE how-to-begin sessions for those considering homeschooling. HEAV also coordinates homeschool days at museums and sites throughout the state, and offers various Homeschool Success Seminars throughout the year—please see www.heav.org/events for a current listing of upcoming events. |
June 11, 12, and 13, 2009, HEAV will host their 26 th Annual HEAV Homeschool Convention in Richmond, VA. Speakers will include Voddie Bauchaum and MANY others! There will be 110+ Workshops, a 295-booth Exhibit Hall, and a Used Curriculum Sale (with nearly 40,000 items ), as well as a fabulous Children's Program. HEAV began in 1983 when three moms set up a card table at the General Assembly and collected the names and addresses of those who had come to support homeschool legislation. They have since grown into a thriving organization with one of the largest homeschool conventions in the country. |
HEAV's extensive website offers numerous articles on homeschooling, as well as information on the Virginia law, testing, homeschooling resources, and more. They also offer free curriculum counseling. Whether you're just considering homeschooling or a veteran, they're there to serve you. |
