Mission Statement

The McCallie School's mission is to prepare students for college and for life. The school is dedicated to the academic, physical, spiritual, and emotional growth of boys. It seeks to inspire and motivate them: to pursue excellence and take pride in one's work and achievements; to lead lives of personal honor; to be responsible in family and personal relationships; and to manifest concern for the welfare of others

Philosophy/Belief Statement

McCallie believes that challenging work best develops useful intellectual ability. The School teaches and values personal integrity, intellectual honesty, and strong work ethic. The McCallie values and promotes an energetic response to the contemporary world and respect for tradition.

School History

McCallie was founded in 1905 by brothers Spencer and Park McCallie. Spencer told the newspaper: "We do not intend, however, to emphasize preparation for college to the exclusion of other things. Preparation for business life will be held equally prominent. Along with the intellectual training, careful attention will be paid to the physical and moral nature of the student." We have continued to honor our founders commitment to excellence for over 100 years.

School Information

In 1998, McCallie introduced the Honors Scholarship Program. This 12-million dollar endowed program offers approximately 20 merit scholarships each year to outstanding boys who display leadership both inside and outside the classroom. McCallie also has a robust coordinate program with Girls Preparatory Schools. Girls Preparatory School is located approximately 3.4 miles from the McCallie campus.
