"AUTHENTIC LEADERSHIP THROUGH STORYTELLING"
GOAL: Learn the basics of storytelling for leadership

INTRODUCTION:
Instructor utilizes a narrative to connects to the group's session goal.
DEFINITION: What's a story?
KEY TAKE-AWAYS:

  • Understand how to create a story and its key elements (use examples)
  • Story Telling for professional /leadership
  • How can do chose the right story for your audience?
  • How do you determine the needs and desires and your specific listeners
  • What's your motivation for telling a story?
  • What's an example of things that challenge us as leaders /managers?

TEACH BY USING A STORY:

Key Story elements

HANDS ON:

  • Practice structuring a story (ten minutes to write thoughts)
  • Short Practice I (fifteen minutes)
  • Integrate the feedback and work on your story again (fifteen minutes)
  • 2nd Example - Instructor shares her story part II (humor/stand up piece)
  • Class member's volunteers to present to the entire class (6 minutes each - maybe three people tops.)
  • Class Feedback
  • Discussion
