School History:
Mt. Tabor High School is home to 1,700 students from diverse backgrounds, excelling in academics, arts, and athletics. Mt. Tabor holds true to its vision statement of "Excellence in Every Endeavor." Newsweek Magazine has consistently ranked Mt. Tabor in the top 1% of high schools in America for the number of students taking AP exams. Over 95% of our 2010 graduates pursued higher education, with over 9.4 million dollars in scholarships awarded. Students have the opportunity to choose from more than 30 AP and more than 50 Honors course selections. In 2009-10, MTHS was a High Growth School and recognized by the State of North Carolina as a School of Distinction. Visual and Performing Arts have consistently performed on the big stage each year earning superior ratings in local, state and regional competitions. On the athletic front, Tabor has won 18 state titles, 161 conference titles, 53 regional championships, and 20 conference Wachovia Cups in a row. Over 600 Tabor student-athletes represent the Spartans on 36 different sports teams. Mt. Tabor High School employs a quality coaching staff that instills an expectation of Sportsmanship, Commitment and Fair Play. Mt. SAM CRONIN
Sam Cronin is a 2005 Mt. Tabor High School graduate. He is a two-time All American and Member of the 2007 National Championship Team at Wake Forest University. He was selected second overall by Major League Soccer team Toronto FC in 2009. He will be inducted on October 15, 2010 at halftime of the home football game.
MIKE ESPOSITO
Mike Esposito was a history teacher, Head Cross Country Coach, and Head Track Coach from 1988-2005, with 17 years of service to Mt. Tabor. He led 11 teams to State Championships. He was named Conference Coach of the Year 22 times and North Carolina Coach of the Year 8 times. He will be inducted on October 15, 2010 at the halftime of the home football game.
NASH EUGENE HARDY, JR.
Nash Eugene Hardy, Jr. spent 18 of his 36 year career in Winston-Salem/Forsyth County Schools in service to Mt. Tabor High School. He began his career in education as a teacher and was the first principal of Mt. Tabor High School from 1966-1984. He will be inducted on October 15, 2010 at the halftime of the home football game.
DICK JAMBACK
Dick Jamback spent 13 years from 1984 to 1997 in service to Mt. Tabor, as both a teacher and the Head Boys and JV Girls Basketball Coach and as the Head Boys Golf Coach. Currently, he coaches JV Girls Basketball and is affectionately known as "The Voice of the Spartans" as he continues to serve Mt. Tabor as the announcer at home football games. He will be inducted on October 15, 2010 at the halftime of the home football game.
CAROLE MIDURA
Carole Midura dedicated 30 years of her life to Mt. Tabor from 1977-2007. Her roles at Mt. Tabor included being an English teacher, Theatre Arts Director, and Senior Class Sponsor. She is responsible for forming the Theatre Arts Club and Senior Class Activities, forming many important traditions at Mt. Tabor. She will be inducted on October 15, 2010 at the halftime of the home football game.
PETE AND GRETCHEN RODDA
Pete and Gretchen Rodda spent eight years from 1994-2001 serving Mt. Tabor. As Arts Board Co-President's from 1995-2001, they worked to bring Arts to the forefront of Tabor activities, and were advocates for Equity in all Arts Programs of the WS/FCS School System. They will be inducted on October 15, 2010 at the halftime of the home football game.
BOB SAPP
Bob Sapp was a teacher, Head Football Coach, and Athletic Director during his twelve years total serving Mt. Tabor from 1992-1998 and 2001-2005. During this time, his football teams won 10 conference championships in twelve years and had a record of 122 wins, 33 losses, and 1 tie. He will be inducted on October 15, 2010 at the halftime of the home football game.

{ Mount Tabor has been consistently ranked in the Top 1% of high schools in America and is the only Winston-Salem High School ranked by NEWSWEEK Magazine in 2010.
{ Over 95% of our 2010 graduates pursued higher education, with 7.8 million dollars in scholarships awarded in 2010.
{ Students at Mount Tabor have the opportunity to choose from more than 30 Advanced Placement and more than 50 Honors course selections.
{ For the 2009-10 school year, Mount Tabor High School had an 81.2% school composite, a High Growth School and recognized by the State of North Carolina as a School of Distinction!
{ For the Graduating Class of 2010, Mount Tabor High School has a four year Graduation Rate of 86.5% and a five year Graduation Rate of 88%.
{ In 2010, 10 of the 24 WS/FCS Governor’s School students were from Mount Tabor.
ARTS AT MT. TABOR

{ Theatre Arts State Awards (NCTC) were earned in Acting, Directing and Tech 2005-10; Superior Rating 2007-10; State Competition level reached in 2009 & 2010.
{ Visual Arts helped collaborate with public artists at the Sawtooth Center; 10 of the 21 Humane Society cats/dogs displays were Mount Tabor students in 2010.
{ Choral Ensemble earned Superior Rating at the State Festival from 2004-2010.
{ Band earned Superior Rating at District Band Festival from 2001-2010, Regional Marching Band contests, and students were placed in All-County and District bands, as well as Governor’s School.

{ Over 600 Tabor student-athletes represent the Spartans in 36 different sports in 2010.
{ Spartan athletes have brought home 18 State Championships, which have taught our student-athletes the importance of competition, commitment and dedication.
{ Mount Tabor High School employs a quality coaching staff that instills an expectation of Sportsmanship, Commitment and Fair Play. Student-athletes were ejection free in 2010.
{ Our Athletic Department has acquired the Conference Wachovia Cup for the past 20 years, proving that we are our conference’s TOP Athletic Program.
SERVICE AT MT. TABOR

{ Our PTSA provides 3 different and supportive parent volunteer boards…Academics, Arts, and Athletics, all of which are anchored by an Executive Board. In 2009, Mount Tabor High School had a total of 607 adult volunteers who recorded a total of 10,260 volunteer hours.
{ 45 Service Clubs provide the very essence and ideals behind what makes the Mount Tabor Spartans all we are….learning the ability to help others in need and learning the meaning of giving back and helping our community and world.
{ In 2010, our Student Council spearheaded a project to sponsor the Mambane family in South Africa. The school-wide effort provided enough support to build a new home for this struggling family!
