Additional Information:
Volunteer projects and internship opportunities with Travellers Worldwide provide an opportunity to take education outside of the traditional classroom setting. For 16 years, Travellers Worldwide has been providing students and adults with volunteer projects and internships overseas. Join us during a holiday break, a vacation, a gap year, or any time of year that you feel the need to immerse yourself in a new culture and help those in need at the same time! Volunteers use our projects to learn more about themselves before jumping into college, some volunteers find that they need a career break while others explore their intended education career path or maybe even discover their true passions in life. There's a big world out there….it would be a shame to miss it!
Setting: Let GUATEMALA be your classroom! All our projects are based in an around the cozy small town of Antigua, Guatemala. Students and travelers come from all over the world to pass through this town's quintessential Latin American cobblestone lanes. The small roads are lined with restaurants, salsa clubs, souvenir shops, and so much more! This is a great central location place to set off for weekend and afternoon trip to Mayan ruins, beautiful rivers and lakes, as well as gorgeous rural views along the way. A trip to Guatemala often leads to travels throughout Latin America and even sometimes into South America…take a trip here and see where it leads you….!
Program: PROJECTS AVAILABLE IN GUATEMALA…
There are many volunteer projects and internships available in Guatemala! We would be happy to email you further about any listed below!
• Teaching: In Guatemala you can teach conversational English, Music, Drama, Mathematics, and more, to children and adults. The schools are very colorful and often classes take place outdoors.
• Spanish Language Courses: Embrace the Spanish language by living, eating and breathing it while you study. There are many other people studying Spanish in the town so you'll have lots of similar-minded people to mix with.
• Care Projects: Gain experience in care, or simply to challenge yourself in a friendly environment where your assistance is really needed.
• Childcare Projects: A very deserving placement working with pre-school children, the daycare project in Guatemala is a truly rewarding experience
• Work Experience: Gain experience in Medicine or Physiotherapy - make your CV stand out from all the others!
• Community Project: Do you want to help out without being in a classroom environment? Then a community project is for you!
If there is a type of project that you are interested in, but don't see it on the website or list above, please just send us an email or give us a call so we can help you find what you are looking for….!
Referrals: WHAT OUR PARTICIPANTS SAY…
"We got here safe and sound yesterday afternoon, and I am officially in love with this country!!! The house I am staying at is like something out of a travel guide, and the family I am with is sweet and so thoughtful! Flori, Edgar Sr., Edgar, Denise and Paula are sure to be fast friends! My housemates are great too, there are 3 guys from Germany, Colorado and Miami, and we get along great! They are showing me around the city and explaining important rules of thumb (like don't flush the toilet paper down the toilet!!). We had the opportunity to get to know a dozen other foreign students who are learning Spanish, and went out for supper with them. We have met some fantastic people, amongst them Lilian and Ana, the principal of the school in San Felipe that we will be working at. We will be figuring out grades, hours, and tasks in the next couple of days and starting teaching by Wednesday or Thursday" - Elizabeth Collin, Teaching 2008
