Philosophy/Belief Statement:
Enlighten children by helping them discover their gifts, talents and uniqueness in a safe, friendly learning atmosphere.
Equip children with the learning skills necessary to recognize harmful behaviors in themselves and others and take steps to correct them.
Encourage children to take control of their own behaviors and actions in order to develop peaceful lifestyles.
Empower children to make better choices that enrich their lives, that of their community, and the environment.
Program History:
Established in 2003, The Children's PEACE Center is a fun, interactive, hands-on traveling museum for children in Elementary grades K-5th. Utilizing puppets, games, puzzles, crafts, computers, role plays, challenging discussions and teamwork activities, children are empowered to make better life choices, learn steps to conflict resolution, emotion management, and encouraged to develop better character traits and accept responsibility for their actions.
Our goal is to create a safe, friendly atmosphere to allow experiential learning opportunities, interactive experimentation in improving character, building self-esteem, and developing peacemaking and life skills in each visitor while having fun and building better relationships. Each one will learn they do have alternatives to violence and can indeed build a peaceful community in which to live.
Additional Information:
Our current programs are designed for Kindergarten through Fifth grade. We want to reach as many children as possible to help them build and improve character traits, morals, values and peacemaking skills. Our exhibits (learning centers) are aligned with the Georgia mandated Quality Core Curriculum and Performance Standards for the Board of Education especially centered around Character Education. Activities focus on violence prevention and deal with emotion and anger management, self esteem, cooperation, teamwork, conflict resolution, responsibility, community enrichment, understanding cultural diversity, and the stewardship of ecology. We have several traveling programs that can come to your site. We offer programs for Public and Private Schools, Homeschool classes, Day Camps, Puppet Shows, and Field Trips.
