Program History

The Phoenix Quest Center has been serving the Valley since 2001. Michael Stinson, the owner and senior instructor has been training for over 15 years and has been teaching to children and adults for the past 10 years. The system itself derives from over 900 years of Japanese tradition set to life with the tools and skills needed to live successfully in America today.

Program Highlights

We provide realistic self defense skills taught in a fun and safe family environment. In addition to the self defense lessons students engage in stimulating life skill development lessons taught through group discussion, 1-1 discussion, visualization, and other various methods designed to reach the various learning styles. Our students learn to do what's right for their lives because THEY know it's important and not simply because they have been told to do so.

Activities

Stimulating intellectual discussions on various aspects of goal setting and success building.

Realistic self defense scenarios including de-escalation, conflict resolution, compromise in addition to the more traditional martial art physical lessons.

Weekly grappling and fitness oriented opportunities.

Defense against and use of traditional and modern weapons.

Special monthly workshops and guest speakers/instructors on various additional topics.

Program Information

We are currently offering a free 30 day program for all members of our community interested in learning more about self defense and successful living. After that our initial program is for 1 year. Students are expected to attend at least 2 classes per week, although they are welcome to attend more if they wish. The training topics are serious, but the atmosphere is one of fun, togetherness, and community.
