At Red Hill Academy, we believe in the fundamental and universal importance of meaningful human connection. We also believe firmly in the unique and often latent potential of each individual. Accordingly, every aspect of the Red Hill Academy program is designed to provide students with numerous opportunities to explore and develop their personal potential in the context of healthy and sustaining interpersonal relationships. In keeping with these core beliefs, the notion of community is central to the Red Hill Academy philosophy of personal growth and development.
Our campus community inspires students and families to embrace their challenges and pursue goals that are both lofty and attainable. Our strength-based, family-centered approach emphasizes the "whole child" in relation to the social environment, both on and off campus, and incorporates core academics, service learning, social skills training, and therapeutic recreation as well as group and family therapy.
The classroom, the therapy office, the football field, and the cottage are all seen as venues conducive to the development of self-awareness, the discovery of hidden talents, and the strengthening of connection to friends and family. At Red Hill Academy, the notion of potential is broad and inclusive. It is not limited to the remediation of academic deficits or the effective treatment of social and emotional difficulties. Neither is it as one dimensional as improving "executive functioning" or choosing a realistic career path. At Red Hill Academy, developing potential also involves identifying and nurturing personal passions, restoring hope, improving self-esteem, encouraging personal and interpersonal responsibility, and providing the tools to meet life's challenges.
