Center Connect at the UW College of Education Presents
The New Multiple Intelligences: Utilizing Brain-Based Learning in the Classroom
by
Dr. James B. Hale
Wednesday, February 7, 2007
4:30-6:30 p.m. in Savery Hall, Room 241, UW campus

This presentation will reveal how current neuroscience theories, evidence, and practices have dispelled long-held misconceptions about brain structure and function, revealing a new paradigm for brain-based learning in the classroom. Participants will gain essential insight into the learning process so they may design new instructional methods and measurement strategies that can foster classroom learning experiences, as well as accommodate learner differences, so that all children can succeed.

Presenter
James B. Hale, Ph.D. is a licensed psychologist, certified school psychologist, and certified special education teacher. As a practitioner and professor, he has served children and families in a variety of school, medical, and residential settings, and has over a decade of experience teaching undergraduates, graduate students, and medical residents/fellows. Dr. Hale has pursued multiple lines of research, including studies that examine language and psychosocial functions associated with right hemisphere dysfunction, challenge assumptions about standardized cognitive assessment and the validity of global IQ scores, and explore frontal-subcortical circuit dysfunction in ADHD and medication response. He has conducted over 100 presentations/workshops to local, regional, national, and international audiences, and has over 35 research and practice-oriented publications, including his bestselling book School Neuropsychology: A Practitioner's Handbook. Dr. Hale is Associate Professor and Associate Director of Clinical Training at the Philadelphia College of Osteopathic Medicine.

This presentation is free of charge.
