Resource Information Updates:

New Columnist: Pam Wilson will begin writing column work for K12 Academics come August.

Biography:
Pamela Wilson is a graduate of the University of California Berkeley, and Pacific Northwest writer who has been active in advocating for children and families for many years. Along with many other dedicated parents and professionals she helped connect and organize families online who have created a network of reliable and up to date websites and discussion groups.

You may have enjoyed her articles published in parenting magazines and newspapers across the country, or children´s software or book review columns. She was awarded the PTA Golden Acorn Award and has been published in the National PTA magazine, PTA Today.

Pamela Wilson has also been recognized for her volunteer work in schools, scouting, and little league. She helped establish local and regional parent support groups for families raising children with disabilities, pioneered inclusive education in her local school district, and continues to be active in advocacy and a resource for individuals with developmental disabilities, chronic health conditions, and others who face challenges in the mainstream of their communities and within their families .

Leaders of parent support groups and organizations are not immune from the difficulties all parents experience, and their children have the same level of individual needs that can both inspire and perplex any mother or father. Sometimes we don't realize we need help until we have been helped. Brothers, sister, cousins and extended family are equally important and deserve to be heard and included in the supportive community that we build around each child, teen or adult who has inspired our advocacy.

Pamela Wilson is presently editor of the Special Needs Children site at BellaOnline.com and looks forward to being a contributing member of the K12 Academics community.
