Program History:
The African Community Center (ACC) is one of three Refugee Resettlement programs in Denver and since 2001 has welcomed refugees who have fled persecution in their home country and have received third country resettlement through the UNCHR and US State Department. Many newcomers arrive in the United States with little but possess great hope about their lives in America. ACC conducts educational and social service programs that help newcomers resettle in their new communities and acculturate, recover from past trauma, gain personal independence and economic self-sufficiency, and become able participants and productive, contributing members of American society.
Events:
Voices of Refugees, Refugees' First Thanksgiving, Community picnics/dinners, Restaurants for Refugees, benefit concerts, craft fairs, World Refugee Day...
