Mission Statement:

Women’s Resource Center (WRC) believes that all people should be free from the crimes of domestic violence and sexual assault.  Those who are victims of these crimes should have access to services that assist them in recovering from their trauma and moving forward in their lives.  Women’s Resource Center is dedicated to providing the highest quality supportive services, counseling, shelter and education to women, men and children involved in or threatened by domestic violence or sexual assault.

Philosophy/Belief Statement:

Our goals are to inform, educate, support, advocate, heighten public awareness, provide short-term shelter, provide long-term residential shelter, and reinforce the fact that domestic violence is a crime.

Program History:

Women’s Resource Center is a human care agency which provides counseling, supportive services, information, referral, emergency food and emergency shelter to victims of family violence and sexual assault, as well as comprehensive information designed to prevent abuse.

- Founded in 1974
- “Underground Shelter Railroad” for abused woman
- Volunteer operated: 24 hr crisis line, counseling, legal help, info referral
- 1979 WRC becomes a Rape Crisis Center
- Today only one in North Coastal county
