Membership/Pricing: Membership + Tuition $295 - $350 per month- depending on the number of enrolled days/week. There is no additional charge for the district schedules half days. There is a 10% discount for siblings.
Setting:
The Program is held the South Mountain YMCA’s Program Center at 13 Jefferson Avenue in Maplewood or the Temple Sharey Tefilo at 432 Scotland Road (anticipated to open in Mid-October 2010).
History:
The program has been running in collaboration with the South Orange/Maplewood School district for over 17 years.
Program Highlights:
Vacation Camp is offered for most days when the school district is closed. After school child care fees do NOT include the “Vacation Camp” Services, but do include all school district scheduled 1/2 days.
Support Services:
YMCA's Strong Kids Campaign Financial Assistance, Program for Parents, Work Vouchers, Chatholic Charities, and many other third party assistance programs.
Activities:
Daily activities include: 30 minutes of homework time with assistance, art & crafts, and a minimum of 30 minutes of recreation - games, sports, dance, outdoor & gymnasium play.
Field Trip Destinations: Field Trips are part of our Vacation Camp Program, but not our After School care Program
Program Information:
The After School Care Program is held at the South Mountain YMCA’s Program Center at 13 Jefferson Avenue in Maplewood or the Temple Sharey Tefilo at 432 Scotland Road (anticipated to open in Mid-October 2010). The program serves children in grades K-5 in all Elementary schools in the South Orange/Maplewood School District. All participants are picked up from their school at dismissal time and bussed to one of the YMCA facilities. Registration is available for 3 days or more per week, but the schedule is required to be the same each week. Any changes in scheduling of these days require written notification to the Director of the program. The cost of this program includes the early pick-up and longer days associated with the School district’s scheduled “half days”. Students will need to bring a bag lunch on these “half days”.
