Amount of Scholarship: $10,000 split between 3 recipients ($5,000 for first place, $3,000 for second place, $2,000 for third place)

Available to Class Level: All current high school students or recent graduates who have never enrolled in any college/university (high school dual credit or AP ok)
Requirements: Read 2 short articles, then write an essay not to exceed 1,200 words on the prompt: “Drawing on the readings, discuss the relationship between individual freedom and social/economic prosperity. Feel free to incorporate outside research.”

Scholarship History: The Young Patriots essay contest is held annually during the fall and winter. Winners not only receive a scholarship award, they also win:
+A FREE trip to Dallas, TX and hotel accomodations for you and a parent to receive your award at a special event!
+Their essay is posted on the National Center for Policy Analysis (NCPA) home page, shared with our followers, and sent to their hometown newspapers, radio and TV. This is great for beginning a portfolio!
