Computer Capabilities:
Patrons may use the library’s terminals to access the internet or bring their own laptop computers equipped with wireless access modems. As with other library materials, it is the parent or legal guardian of minor children who assumes responsibility for supervising access to internet resources. A signed Parental Permission card must be on file for minor children 10 years and older.
Use of the public computers are limited to one hour per day unless no one else is waiting or scheduled. Neither the public computers or the library’s wireless internet connection may be used for unauthorized, illegal, or unethical purposes. You may not send, receive, or display text or graphics which may reasonably be construed as obscene. You may not access and/or utilize chat rooms. Misuse of the public computers or internet access will result in loss of internet privileges.
There is a cost of $.20 per page to print from computer terminals. Paper is available at the front desk.
The Alexandria Public Library is not responsible for damage to a patron’s disk, loss of data, or liability that may occur from patron use of the library’s computers.
The library staff cannot provide in-depth training but, may be able to offer searching suggestions and answer questions.
