The library includes a community room with a built-in projector, a Friends of the Library bookstore, the Esper A Petersen Foundation Study Center where students can get tutored, a technology lab with computer classes, and five study rooms. The library currently has over 260,000 items in its collection, which also contains the Ventura County Genealogical Society and the Russell Fischer Business Collection.
Library History:
The Camarillo Public Library first started in 1895 as a small collection of readers in the local school, by 1919 the Camarillo branch of the Ventura County Free Library was officially opened. The library's collection continued to grow and in 2007 a new building was constructed for the library. The architectural style of the building and interior is partially inspired by the Adamson House in Malibu. The children's room features a sunken pirate ship and beautiful mosaics can be found throughout the building. In January 2011, the library was officially re-opened as the City of Camarillo Public Library.
