Library Information:
The library is an administrative arm of the city of Knoxville, Iowa. The seven member board of trustees is appointed by the mayor and approved by city council. The library is open 54 hours a week. Hours of operation are: Mon - Thurs 10 a.m. to 8 p.m., Fri 10 a.m. to 5 p.m., Sat. 10 a.m. to 3 p.m., Sun 2 - 4 p.m. (September through May).
Library History:
The library was built in 1912 with monies donated by Andrew Carnegie. The building was added on in 1990 and will undergo an expansion and renovation project in 2018. The project will double the size of the current building to 15,000 square feet and add meeting rooms, study rooms, dedicated teen space, bigger genealogy and history rooms, and additional restrooms.
