Library Information:
We consider it an honor to serve the people of Robertson County and surrounding areas. You do not have to be a resident of Robertson County to become a member of the Library. We welcome all who wish to utilize our facility.
To get a library card, you must have a form of ID (driver license, or ID card) to verify you are over 18. If you are under 18, a parent/guardian must accompany you to the Library in order to obtain a library card. Children under 6 years of age must be accompanied by a responsible adult when visiting the library.
Adult books are checked out for a period of 31 days; juvenile books are checked out for a period of 14 days. The due date is never a day we are closed. All overdue books will be charged a fine of 10 cents per day, which will include days we are closed since the book(s) is already overdue. You may renew books once over the telephone, as long as they are not overdue.
Our Library is fully automated. The bulk of our book funds are spent on current best-seller hardcover fiction, which is what the majority of our patrons demand. If you want a particular title, we will try to order it for our collection and if that is not possible, we will try to secure it from Interlibrary Loan sources, fees apply. Our juvenile section is also kept up to date with new releases. We also have a large selection of paperbacks, from Westerns to Romance, which mainly have been donated to us by patrons.
To view our collection click the link Online Card Catalog .
We happily accept book and magazine donations provided we have room for them. In fact, we would take every single book and magazine offered since we are wild about books and reading materials but, due to our limited space, we must select carefully.
Through Central Texas Library System, of which we are a member, we can access the TexShare Databases.
Other services provided by the Library include: two (2) early literacy stations computers targeted toward ages 2 - 10, three (3) computers just for games (no access to the internet), seventeen (17 ) public internet computers with a time limit of one(1) hour use per person, unless they have made prior arrangements due to circumstances which would require additional computer time.), copies (black) from copy machine, computer printer (black and color), faxing services, laminating, photo scanning and printing, WIFI, and various graphic services. Prices vary for each service required. Inquire about other services you might have need of and we will see if we can help you.

Library History:
Mrs. Josie Smith Welch deeded historical property to the City of Hearne in March of 1970 for use as a public library. Smith-Welch Memorial Library, named in honor of the Smith and Welch families, opened in 1974. The library has since moved, October 2008, into a new state of the art facility with over 5000 sqft.
