Library History:
The Smyrna Public Library was founded in 1936 as a Woman's Club project. By 1938 a part-time librarian was funded by the WPA to administer the library. In 1961 the City assumed all responsibility for funding the Library and built a new library downtown. In 1986 this library was replaced by a 28,000 square foot building that continues to be used today.
Exhibits: The library hosts twelve exhibits each year. Six are in the library's art gallery focusing on nationally and regionally prominent artists. The other six are exhibits in the library display cases featuring local arts and crafts.
Events:
The Friends of the Library host an annual mystery festival "Murder Goes South" featuring artists from around the South.
