CHADD WORKS TO IMPROVE THE LIVES OF PEOPLE AFFECTED BY ADHD THROUGH: COLLABORATIVE LEADERSHIP, ADVOCACY, RESEARCH, EDUCATION AND SUPPORT.
Membership Fee: $45 yearly membership or a requested donation of $5 for each meeting attended

Detailed Organization Information:
CHADD OF SUFFOLK COUNTY IS A CHAPTER OF CHADD NATIONAL, A 501(c)(3) CHARITABLE ORGANIZATION WHICH HAS BEEN SERVING FAMILIES WITH ADHD SINCE 1987. IT IS LISTED WITH THE I.R.S. AS WELL AS WITH THE STATE OF NEW YORK CHARITIES BUREAU AS A TAX EXEMPT ORGANIZATION.
CHADD’S PRIMARY OBJECTIVES ARE: TO PROVIDE A SUPPORT NETWORK FOR PARENTS AND CAREGIVERS; TO PROVIDE A FORUM FOR CONTINUING EDUCATION; TO BE A COMMUNITY RESOURCE AND DISSEMINATE ACCURATE, EVIDENCE-BASED INFORMATION ABOUT ADHD TO PARENTS, EDUCATORS, ADULTS, PROFESSIONALS, AND TO THE MEDIA; TO PROMOTE ONGOING RESEARCH; AND TO BE AN ADVOCATE ON BEHALF OF THE ADHD COMMUNITY.
CHADD NATIONAL REPRESENTS OVER 20,000 MEMBERS. MOST ARE FAMILIES OF CHILDREN AND ADULTS WITH ADHD. ABOUT 2,000 CHADD MEMBERS ARE PROFESSIONALS PROVIDING CLINICAL AND OTHER SERVICES TO PEOPLE WITH ADHD.
THE LOCAL CHAPTER, CHADD OF SUFFOLK COUNTY, HAS BEEN ACTIVE IN THE COMMUNITY AND RUN BY A DEDICATED GROUP OF VOLUNTEERS SINCE 1989. OUR CHAPTER RUNS MONTHLY MEETINGS, AND PROVIDES INFORMATION AND SUPPORT TO FAMILIES AND ADULTS SEEKING INFORMATION ABOUT ADHD AND RELATED ISSUES.
THE SUPPORT GROUPS AND MEETINGS ARE CONDUCTED DURING THE SCHOOL CALENDAR YEAR, AND ARE FREE AND OPEN TO THE GENERAL PUBLIC. IN ADDITION, WE OFFFER A 7 SESSION PARENT TRAINING PROGRAM ON ADHD FOR PARENTS OF CHILDREN WITH ADHD, TWICE PER YEAR.
CHADD OF SUFFOLK COUNTY HAS NO PAID ADMINISTRATION. WE ARE STRICTLY A VOLUNTEER ORGANIZATION. OUR REVENUE COMES FROM A SMALL PORTION OF THE NATIONAL MEMBERSHIP DUES; ($10 PER LOCAL FAMILY MEMBERSHIP.) ANY FUNDRAISING WE DO, OR INCOME WE RECEIVE IS LOCAL TO SUPPLEMENT CHAPTER PROGRAMS FOR THE COMMUNITY. WE ARE NOT REQUIRED BY LAW TO FILE AN I.R.S. FORM 990.
