Program Information:

WSCF is able to help parents and teachers start chess clubs in their school, community or home school organization.  WSCF firmly believes in the use of teaching chess as an educational vehicle to help students raise their math and reading abilities,  improve self esteem and develop problem solving skills.

WSCF has nearly 100 schools participating statewide and that number is growing exponential.  The statewide system of chess tournaments provide motivation and focus for students to compete beyond and as a result of their local chess clubs.   Financial assistance is available in some cases and students are awarded scholarships for winning at some of the statewide tournaments.

WSCF can offer advise for how to organize a club in the local community.  Curriculum is available for sharing as well as suggestions for the many sources of resources available for those who want to teach chess to children.

WSCF provides grants to starting clubs and for implementing AF4C's "First Move" curriculum program.
