Setting:
Dovewood is on 240 acres in N. Florida with 30 horses, very large swimming pool, camp cabins of all sizes, double tennis courts, 3 riding rings, dining hall, miles of nature trails and horse trails, close to the Suwannee River and Ichetucknee Springs where we go rafting. 45 miles west of Gainesville, Fl and inbetween Jacksonville and Tallahassee, Fl

Camp Dovewood is a dynamic Christian camp for girls 7-17 in North Florida .during the summer months. This year we are celebrating 47 wonderful years where girls come from all over Florida and the Southeast. Campers develope confidence, talents are polished,, lasting friendships are made along with growing in God's love. Girls select seven of the 24 activities offered to do each day.: Wednesdays are special days where girls go on trail rides, river rafting trips and enjoy games and swimming at the camp pool., Christian friends and enjoy lots of fun happens. . During a two week session we have a local veternarian come and do a vet clinic, 4th of July Parade where we dress horses up and ourselves as a famous person in history, Girls like the overnight horseback ride to the Suwannee River where we camp out with the horses and ride to Little River Springs the next day. During a one week session, girls go to the beautiful Troy Spings to swim and view the Suwannee River. During the week: Soccer, volleyball, cheer,swimming, cooking, baton, archery, drama, Bible, great books, archery,horseback riding instruction, tennis and pickleball, art, water ballet, music, grooming and stable management are some of the activities offered.
The Sr Counselors are talented Christian College Students that are certified in the areas they teach. The riding instructors are certified through the Certified Horsemanship Association.We have two Water Safety Swimming Instructors .Our Archery instructors are level one or two. Those teaching tennis,baton, cheerleading, volleyball or soccer were on their college or high school varisty teams..The director: Roberta Richmond: BSED U.of Ga and a Master's degree in the Art of Teaching from Emory U. Roberta has taught elementary grades 4-6 and served as the county's gifted teacher K-12, selected District Teacher of the Year. She is an ordained minister, and a level 3 riding instructor in English and Western riding. Sarah Smart: Assist. Director, Master's degree from FSU and teaches Middle School at Bayshore Methodist Christian School in Tampa, She is a swim instructor, holding a WSI certicate. Zoe Richmond is our Jr. Assist. Director: She is a certified riding instructor, co -captain of the cheerleaders,, graduated Magna Cum Laude. Austin Richmond is the camp's accountant from U. SC.and hold a CDL license.
Dovewood offers youth and family retreats , Mother /Daughter retreats , Father and Son weekends in the Spring and Fall, with trail rides, river trips, nature trails and amazing Christian fellowship.We offer workshops for elementary and middle school students:wishing to raise their science scores as well as : a great Equine Science,hands on workship. We do Nature Trails ,and Science labs.for home-schooled and public school students.
