Mission Statement:
The mission of Christina G Smith Community Mental Health Foundation is to provide comprehensive and innovative programs that enhance the emotional, social, academic and physical health and development of youth and families struggling with emotional and behavioral challenges.
Philosophy/Belief Statement:
Youth feel empowered and have access to the academic, behavioral and emotional supports that help them lead happy productive lives and become healthy contributing members of their family and community.
School History:
The Christina G. Smith Community Mental Health Foundation was established in loving memory of Dr. Christina G. Smith, a dedicated physician whose life was tragically cut short. Her vision for compassionate, holistic mental health care continues to guide the foundation’s mission.
Dr. Smith’s early years in India, where her father served as a missionary, shaped her deep empathy and global perspective. She began her career in a state mental health facility and later brought her passion to South Florida, where she championed grassroots approaches to treatment. Her commitment to lifelong learning and collaborative care inspired both colleagues and clients alike.
Dr. Smith believed in the healing power of understanding, education, and empathy. She saw the potential in every individual and worked tirelessly to promote wellness and acceptance. The Foundation honors her legacy by continuing to serve with the same heart, vision, and dedication.
