School History:
Emerald transitioned from a traditional middle school to a STEAM Magnet Middle School in 2010. Staff have received extensive training in technology, challenge based learning, and differentiation to meet a variety of student needs and learning styles. Two Jimmie Johnson Foundation grants allowed the school to be outfitted with $200,000 worth of state-of-art technology. Grants from the Cajon Valley Education Foundation, Friends of the East County Arts, and San Diego Gas and Electric and donations from such corporate partners at Qualcomm have allowed us to maintain state-of-art technology for all students in all core classes.
Cajon Valley is an Apple Demonstration District, and Emerald is a Google Pilot site. We continue to strive to stay ahead of the curve as we prepare our students academically, socially, and technologically for the challenges of a rapidly changing world.
