From its beginning to the present we have tried to exemplify the proud heritage of our mascot, the EAGLE, which also represents this proud country.

School History:
Joplin High School was founded in 1885 and the first graduating class completed their studies in 1888. Since 1888, almost 35,000 students have graduated from Joplin High School and Joplin secondary schools. The current building was completed in 1958, with extensive additions and improvements completed in 2003. Recently Joplin High School celebrated 125 years of offering quality education in the Joplin area.

Programs and Services:
JHS offers an extensive array of Advanced Placement courses, college dual credit courses, and career education courses. In addition we are located next door to Franklin Technology Center. The JHS JROTC program is the oldest continuous JROTC program in the nation since 1919. The TV Productions program and the school TV station (JET-14) win many awards annually; and JET-14 broadcasts TV programming on the local cable channel 14. The school also has a band, orchestra, and vocal program.
