Philosophy/Belief Statement:
NewStart is a non-traditional, non-graded high school, serving students who would traditionally be enrolled in grades 9-12. These students may have fallen behind in earning credits, have difficulty passing state required tests, are at risk of dropping out of school, or just need a new environment in which they can succeed.
NewStart students do not enroll in a specific grade level but rather in the "NewStart School." We target the population of students whose educational needs have not been met at any meaningful level and are a viable alternative for the non-traditional student. The NewStart model catches the students that are falling through the cracks and empowers the community with more contributing adult citizens.
The NewStart program provides each student with the opportunity to earn a state-recognized high school diploma in a non-traditional environment that will meet their personal and academic needs.
The program's flexible hours give students the opportunity to attend one of two daily sessions, giving each student time to balance their personal lives that often include family and employment responsibilities.
