Philosophy/Belief Statement:
Under District and parent supervision our program empowers self-motivated students with the abilities and skills to rise to the level of the rigor of the curriculum while regulating and self-monitoring their physical learning enviroment.
Enrollment Characteristics: VVA is a free public school and is a viable option for homeschooling families or any student that desires to increase the level of rigor of the curriculum, while maintaining control of the physical learning enviroment. VVA includes students in grades 3-12 who are on a college going pathway.
School History:
Val Verde Academy is located in the Val Verde Unified School District, which encompasses the communities of Perris and Moreno Valley. The school is physically located in the City of Moreno Valley and is housed in what was formerly an elementary school site. The school opened in the fall of 2010 with approximately 60 students. The school currently serves grades 3-12. Val Verde Academy is an open-enrollment school and does not have identified school boundaries, and serves students from across the district. The district has approximately 19,500 students and of those approximately 14,000 are Hispanic, 3000 are African-American and 1100 are white.
Programs and Services:
Val Verde Academy currently includes students in grades 3-12 who are on a college-going pathway. Our Academy supports parental choice, provides access to a rigorous standard-based, college preparatory grades 3-12 Online Learning, provides Online Learning with 24/7 access. Supports flexible schedules that provides access to experiential school activities, such as fine and performing arts programs, school-based athletics and links to institutions of higher learning.
