Our mission is to provide quality, individualized instruction, and recovery support to adolescents in recovery from substance use and co-occurring disorders so students with reach long-term recovery, obtain their high school diploma, and prepare for their next step.
Recovery is a process of hope and healing that is fostered in a positive peer-to-peer community at Emerald School. Our goal is to provide the best possible education and support system for every student in recovery from substance use and co-occurring disorders by offering freedom and flexibility through quality education, peer support, and community service.

Admission Criteria:
Tours and interviews with an admissions counselor may be scheduled Monday through Friday between 11:00 AM and 7:00 PM. Times are based on availability and typically take up to 1-hour.
If we are a good fit for one another, and after completing the interview process with the student and family, we will send over-enrollment documents and/or scholarship information to get a student enrolled within a few days.

Students are eligible for the disability grant through the state of NC for a partial scholarship to attend our school.
Family Support: We have 2 parent support meetings a month and also require our parents to attend a free family weekend workshop with a local treatment center once a year.

To provide quality, individualized instruction, and recovery support to adolescents in recovery from substance use and co-occurring disorders so students sustain long-term recovery, obtain their high school diploma, and prepare for their purpose-driven post-secondary plans.
Philosophy/Belief Statement:
Vision: To strengthen the continuum of care for youth by serving as a resource to support them in reaching substance use and co-occurring disorder recovery.
School History:
We started with 2 students and 2 staff members in September of 2019. We had our first graduation ceremony in 2021 and graduated 2 students who went on to college. We now have over 30 students and more than 12 staff members. We graduated 9 seniors this June and they are all continuing their education at local community colleges, and colleges/universities across the country.
Programs and Services:
Purpose Driven Programming- we offer electives and internships based on the current interests of our current student body.
