Mission Statement:
We believe that all students can learn and can achieve regardless of their previous academic performance, family background, socio-economic status, race and/or gender. The mission of B-G CSD is to assure that all students acquire the knowledge and skills which enable young people to become productive members of society. It is our goal to educate all students to a higher level of academic performance and foster positive growth in social/emotional behaviors and attitudes.
District Characteristics: The district is rural with picturesque rolling hills in the Susquehanna River Valley and extends into 10 towns fall covering 100 square miles. It serves approximately 950 students and employs 100 certified staff and 100 support staff with four Building Principals, a Director of Special Education, and a Business Official. The Board of Education is made up of seven members. Facilities are in excellent condition and a building project is nearing completion that upgrades each of the buildings.
History:
The B-G School District was formed in 1962 through the merger of the former Bainbridge and Guilford Central School Districts.
Athletics: B-G CSD has a wide offering in athletics with notable state successes in wrestling and track and field teams. It is a member of the Midstate Athletic Conference which is very competitive in the State Class C and D tournaments. The district has two fully lit fields for night games in football and soccer.
Scholastic Perfomance: B-G routinely graduates students in four years at a percentage well above the state average. Typically 85-90% of graduates continue their education at the college level. There are six four year schools within a one hour radius, including Binghamton and Colgate Universities, and at least four state two-year institutions.
