Mission Statement:
The mission of Colfax Schools, in partnership with families and communities, to prepare students to become responsible citizens who compete successfully in a changing world.
Accreditation and Recognition: Washington State School of Distinction
District Characteristics: Rural school located near Washinton State University in Southeast Washington. The school has a high attendance rate, high GPA rate, high percentage of students go on to post secondary training of some type, and we do well athletically with many state championship trophies. We have good kids who generally try to be successful in the classroom and the athletic field.
Consolidation: Colfax was a consolidated school and called Colfax Consolidated Schools for two or three years.
Belief Statements:
We believe that for our students to be sucessful, they need to know what is expected, how they can get there, and support them through the process through encouragement, goals and followthrough.
We believe that our staff must be adequately trained to set high standards for students using technology to integrate common core standards into each curriculum.
We believe our parents and community must take an active role in mentoring our students to become responsible citizens.
A.P. Classes: We have moved to offering college credit within the high school rather than AP courses. Students can earn two years of college credit in English, one year of physics, chemistry or calculus and community college credits in accounting 1, accounting 2, Microsoft Office Suite and certifications in the Microsoft Office product line. We currently work with Lewis and Clark College, Eastern Washington University, Centeral Washington University, Spokane Falls Community College and Walla Walla Community Colleges.
Transportation: We provide bus service to about 65% of our students.
After School/Extracurricular Programs: Robotics, First Lego League, Future Problem Solvers, Knowledge Bowl, FFA, FCCLA, FBLA, and a host of athletic opportunities.
Computer Capabilities:
We have filtered WiFi access throughout the district for staff, students and guests.
