Academics: College Credit Programs
Dual enrollment is for eligible high school students who want to earn both high school and college credits simultaneously by taking courses at publicly funded higher education institutions. North Shore Community College and Salem State College are the area colleges participating in this program. Students must qualify for these college level classes.
Secondary-Post Secondary CVTE Linkage
Tech Prep is a federally funded grant that has been made to consortia post-secondary institutions for the development of career pathways to a two-year associate’s degree, a two-year certificate or further post-secondary education. The North Shore Tech Prep consortia at North Shore Community College has established articulation agreements between high schools and post-secondary institutions, establishing career pathways that transition seamlessly from high school to college programs of study, creating opportunities for students to earn college credits while in high school. Articulations also exist between NST and Bunker Hill Community College, Mass Bay Community College, Central Maine Community College and Southern Maine Community College.
Advanced Credit Application Process for Tech Prep
Any student who successfully completes an articulated course in high school is eligible to apply for and receive advanced credit once enrolled at North Shore Community College. Credits can be redeemed for up to three years after high school graduation. Submit a completed application, including a high school transcript, to the Tech Prep office to expedite the review process.
