Mission Statement:
AEF Schools prepare students for life by developing in them the academic, social, physical, and problem-solving skills necessary to live constructively in a rapidly changing society.
Philosophy/Belief Statement:
We are more than a collection of buildings full of teachers. We are educators, role models, confidants, disciplinarians, and cheer leaders. We provide structure, consistency, encouragement, and redirection that allows our students to thrive academically and socially. For many of our students, this is the first time (or the first time in a long time) that they have made new friends, enjoyed coming to school, trusted their teachers, and felt safe. For many of our parents, it is the first time that they have felt their child is understood and experience a sense of peace knowing they don’t have to worry about what is happening during the school day.
Our holistic approach means we look at the whole child, not just their educational needs but their physical, social, and emotional wellbeing. We believe schools should teach manners, respect, acceptance, tolerance, self-worth, life skills, social skills, and critical thinking skills, not just academic content. It is the combination of these skills along with an academic foundation that gives our students a sense of confidence and self-worth which in turn, prepares them for whatever their future may hold; University, College, Vocational School, Trade School, Armed Services, into the workforce, or following a path of their own.
If you are still reading this, it most likely means you are on a journey with your child, a journey that is more difficult than what most other parents or caregivers face. It means your child has specific needs which have not been met in other public or private schools. It also means that despite the obstacles and setbacks you have faced, you are still looking for help and the right environment.
You are to be commended for your perseverance and dedication. It only takes one visit to our campus to see and feel the difference for yourself. And if, for whatever reason, AEF may not be the right environment for your family or child, we will help guide you to one that is.
We will continue to measure success, one child at time.
School History:
AEF was founded in 2003 by a group of parents who wanted a better education for their children. These parents had tried a variety of public and private schools, but could not find a school that catered to their child’s specific needs; academics, social skills, cognitive skills and life skills. The one-size-fits-all approach of traditional schools was not working and their children, despite their intelligence, were not experiencing success. They did not want to place their children in special programs that serviced more severe social, emotional, and behavioral problems. Their solution was to start a non-profit foundation, whose primary goal was to fund school programs catering to average to above-average intelligence children and adolescents who were not excelling academically, socially, and/or at home. These students do NOT require a restrictive environment but rather a structured, nurturing environment focusing on academic, social, and cognitive skills.

Dear Parent, Guardian or Caregiver,
We hope this email finds you and your family safe and well.
Thank you for your interest in our programs. AEF Schools serve average to bright children (grades K-12) who are not being as successful as they should be in traditional schools, socially, and/or at home; but not due to their intelligence. Our students exhibit deficits in life, social, cognitive developmental, and/or executive functioning skills.
These deficits, in turn, may lead to issues with focus, attention, organization, time management, decision-making, working independently, study skills, test taking skills, making/keeping friends, reading comprehension, procedural math, enjoyment of school, anxiety, and even depression.
Our schools are fully accredited and our 90% of our senior graduates continue onto College / University.
Our students fall into a grey area where mainstream schools do not have the resources and experience to help them; but a Special Needs School / Restrictive School is not the appropriate environment either.
AEF is NOT a special needs school, but rather a "Specific Needs School." Our students require traditional academic instruction along with a curriculum to simultaneously build and strengthen the foundational cognitive, social, and executive functioning skills required for success both inside and outside the classroom setting.
AEF is NOT restrictive school and is NOT a behavioral school.
We do NOT work with children who are:
- Physically aggressive
- A danger to themselves or others
- Exhibit emotional disturbances
- Non-verbal
- Require physical assistance / assistance with toileting

Estimado padre, tutor o cuidador,
• Exhibir alteraciones emocionales
• No verbal
