The After School Arts Program originated in 1991 as “Arts Force”, a committee of parents, teachers, artists and community members dedicated to bringing more and better arts education to the Durango District 9R schools. Now in its 19th year, this educational program of the Durango Arts Center and a curriculum partner with Durango School District 9R offers terrific art classes, creative concepts and projects for art-loving kids once a week at your child’s elementary school for grades Kindergarten through 5th grade throughout the school year. Participating students can acquire new skills, learn new techniques, express ideas and feelings, and explore their own unique artistic personality through the creative process. After School Arts provides kids the opportunity to work with teaching artists who are chosen for their dedication to arts education and their own particular strengths as artists.
