We come to your school/facility with all the equipment, insurance, etc. and teach your students fencing
History:
Dan, our head coach, has been fencing for 25 years and was the Junior Division Champion, the Inland Empire Division Champion, and was rated 86th in the nation at the National Championships. Dan has taught fencing in Seattle during PE and after school through private and public high schools and middle schools, churches, boys and girls clubs, parks and recreation departments, and private lessons. He successfully taught classes of over 100 students at a time (with assistants). We get many comments on what a great instructor Dan is with his demeanor and teaching style.
Our liability insurance:
We have $1 million liability insurance policy through an insurance carrier through the United States Fencing Association. This is the highest amount of coverage for this kind of insurance.
Program Highlights:
About Have Blade Will Travel Fencing:
We have after school programs in elementary and middle schools in Fairfax and Arlington County Schools, Prince William Academy, and Fort Belvoir. For grades first through third we use nerf foam sabers and for grades four and up, we use foils. We also teach daytime homeschool and evening classes for the Park Authorities for Prince William County and Fredericksburg, and at Southlake Community Center in Montclair.
Activities:
Class Description: Beginner Foil: We teaching the basic stance, lunge, parries, and attacks, as well as the basic concepts of fencing. We also teach intermediate and advanced foil, saber and epee, historical fencing, stage combat, and Little Tikes nerf fencing for ages 4-7
Program Information:
Grade Levels: Kindergarten and up
K through 2nd grade: Little Tikes fencing: we use nerf foam sabers, however the students wear all the same equipment that the older students use
3rd grade and up: Uses regular foil, doing a regular beginner foil class
