Our roots include two decades of work by the Pearson Field Historical Society, Fort Vancouver National Trust (a 501c3 nonprofit since 1998) and their supporters. In 2014, PFEC was the recipient of the Washington Aviation Association Northwest Spirit Award. PFEC builds on 110 years of rich aviation and cultural history at Pearson Field and the surrounding Historic Reserve.
Program Highlights:
Pearson Field Education Center delivers experiential aviation based science, technology, engineering and math programs for young people ages kindergarten through 12th grade. Located on historic Pearson Field, knowledge and experience gained provides a foundation for future careers. We do this by delivering age relevant programs, providing significant hands on and skill learning, partnering with local schools, exposing young people to important historical moments, innovations, historical aircraft/artifacts and individuals, and introducing young people to continuing education, vocation and career opportunities.
Support Services:
Given Pearson Field’s rich and diverse history particular attention is made to inclusion of underrepresented, minority, female and disabled students through outreach, adaptive program design and scholarships.
Activities:
Aviation summer camps, college and career fairs, merit badge programs, school programs, tours, group events, open cockpit days.
Field Trip Destinations: Pearson Field, Vancouver, WA & Western Antique Aero Plane and Automobile Museum, Hood River, OR.
