History:
The YWCA of Greater Lawrence has been providing after school enrichment programs for boys and girls since the mid-1950's. While programs and services have changed, our commitment to safe, affordable care has remained in tact.
Program Highlights:
Help with Homework is one of our most popular programs, as well as our two Computer Centers.
Activities:
Co-ed and gender-specific activites are offered and vary according to time of year, and interest areas.
Field Trip Destinations: Various, though usually from Lawrence to Boston destinations are offered.
Program Information:
The Co-Ed After School program provides enrichments and special programs for boys and girls including computer access, recreational activities, hoework assistance, special workshops, fitness programs and field trips. The curriculum has a special focus on non-violence, nutrition, and substance abuse prevention. Boys and girls 6 - 13 welcome.
The Girls Center provides enrichment and special programs for girls age 6 - 17 including computer center, career exploration, homework assistance, leadership program, writing and literacy workshops, dance and sports programs, mother/daughter activities, traditional recreational opportunities such as field trips, arts and crafts and drama. The curriculum includes healthy relationships and choices, with special emphasis on non-violence, nutrition, and pregnancy & substance abuse prevention.
