Alan's program is an inspiring look at his career as a reader and writer. In a virtual multimedia presentation that includes his work as an author, TV writer, animation creator, comic book/trading card writer, theater producer, kids' radio host and more, he laughingly fosters a "hey, I can read that/I can write that" attitude. Silly Dilly singing, ridiculous rhyming and a recap of his wildly creative career make for an insightful and enjoyable presentation.
Mission Statement:
As the father of four, I know that not all students approach reading and writing in the same way. Kids who aren't avid readers simply haven't found the right book yet. And kids who don't love writing haven't yet found their voices. I can help them do so.
Philosophy/Belief Statement: We are all writers; we all have stories to tell.
Program History:
Over the past 20+ years, I have presented in over 500 schools in 30 states.
Testimonials: Thank you so much for an AMAZING visit. My teachers are still talking about it and every single one of your books has been checked out (with a waiting list for most!). The books arrived and all of the students and parents affected were completely happy and very grateful for your generosity and thoughtfulness.

I just have to say you were absolutely phenomenal today. The way you connected with our students and shared just how much we need writers in our world was so perfect! The kids had a blast and took valuable information with them. Thank you for sharing a piece of yourself with us. We are very lucky to have gotten a chance for a visit with you. Hopefully, we will be seeing you again soon! My teacher/media specialist is overflowing with literacy joy from today! Thank you for having such an amazing impact!

Thank you so much for everything today! All the kids AND teachers had such a wonderful time. Everyone was singing your praises the rest of the day, it sounds like you really inspired all of the grades. My son cannot stop talking about how much fun they all had in the writer’s workshop. We will definitely send you the story once they’ve finished it. It was a fantastic day (that will be tough to live up to next year)!
Thanks so much for everything again!
