PUPPET STORY TIME & PUPPET FREE PLAY
We perform various types of puppet shows for both small and large audiences. Puppet Story Time is the program that I most often provide to libraries, schools, and daycare centers. It includes 30 minutes of stories and songs performed by the puppets, followed by (up to) 30 minutes of Puppet Free Play.
The stories & songs are interactive, allowing the kids to engage both their minds and bodies during the show.
After the show, the children are invited to participate in a hands-on Puppet Free Play session, where they can try on for themselves some of Newton's moving-mouth puppets, glove puppets, arm & rod puppets, and finger puppets.
This gives the children an opportunity to interact with other children while practicing gross & fine motor skills and engaging their imaginations. So much learning, so much fun!
Mission Statement:
Through Me To You Puppetry's mission is about supporting anyone and everyone who believes in themselves and follows their dreams -- and does not let doubt or fear stop them.
We are committed to exploring themes of love, courage, and compassion through the wonderful and wonder-filled world of puppets.
Program History:
Leigh Baltzer and her puppets have been performing in libraries, schools, daycares, and private homes in MA, RI, and NH since 2014. She is happy to provide references or reviews upon request.
Testimonials:
“The Cohasset Library highly recommends Leigh and Friends for a dynamic puppet story time. The addition of the puppets adds another experiential layer for our young emerging readers.”
-Sharon Moody, Children’s Librarian at Paul Pratt Memorial Library in Cohasset, MA

“Thank you so much for today, the kids had a really great time and you were fantastic. It was so nice that you also brought some Spanish into the show. I really wanted to thank you again for such a great show.”
-Laura W, President of the Parents Assoc. at Su Escuela, a Spanish immersion school in Hingham, MA

“We had Leigh and 3 of her puppet friends host a story time for the preK set yesterday and it was a great success! Leigh helped turn the pages of the 'big books' she brought, and her puppets read the stories, with audience chiming in, too!
The program drew a huge crowd for our little library — nearly 40 kids and their grown-ups. How ever will I live up to that next week when it’s back to just me hosting our story time?
After the 30 minute program (songs, too) the children were able to have a meet & greet with Leigh and her friends, and play with puppets Leigh brings to share!
Leigh was warm and cheerful, her puppets charming! Newton asked each child their name as they arrived and warmed up the crowd before show time. Reviews included, ‘Funny-fun-fun!’ as well as, ‘A nice treat!’ and, my favorite — ‘The magic was in her arm..’”
-Meghan Forsell, Children’s Librarian at Somerville Public Library, East Branch

“Leigh and friends (Newton, Phineas, and Floyd) kept my 22 Kindergartners entertained (make that enthralled!) for 45 minutes. Leigh was flexible and responsive to our curriculum needs, and tailored her performance accordingly. A delightful performance by a talented puppeteer!”
-Judy Pritchard, Kindergarten Teacher at the South Shore Charter Public School in Norwell, MA
