Northeast Animal Rescue
Additional Information
Ages for Volunteer: 14 years and older
Minimum Hours Required: 2 hours a week
Days of Service: Saturday or Sunday
Mission Statement:
Northeast Animal Rescue is a 501(c)3 non-profit organization located in Northeast Philadelphia. We are dedicated to saving homeless, unwanted and abandoned cats. We depend solely on donations, which are tax deductible.
NAR focuses on having feral (wild) cats spayed and/or neutered to decrease overpopulation. In the process of helping feral cats, we come across many who are friendly. These cats receive medical attention with the help of local veterinarians, and when ready, are put up for adoption. All our cats are cared for in foster homes. As a general policy, we do not take owner-surrendered cats.
Our goal is to place all cats in stable, loving homes where they will be cared for and never be abandoned, abused or neglected.
Additional Information:
NAR offers community service hours to middle and high school students. Parents must sign a waiver before starting. Hours are generally Saturday and/or Sunday from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. Duties include cleaning cages, litter boxes and food bowls, exercising and grooming cats and interacting with potential adopters (training is provided).
Please note, NAR is located inside a PetsMart store in NE Philadelphia (NAR is a foster home-based rescue). Volunteers must be punctual and respectful of others.
If interested in community service hours, please e-mail drdoolitte8893@aol.com. Be sure to include 'community service' in the subject line. Thank you.
