Mission Statement:
The Dr. Piper Center for Social Services, Inc. seeks to enhance the social and economic well-being of those 55+ aged individuals who reside in SW Florida and makes a positive impact in the lives of frail elderly, at risk youth, special needs children and our communities.
Philosophy/Belief Statement:
We believe the Foster Grandparent Program is a vital part of the educational community. They share their wisdom, convictions, love and experience with children who need extra attention and help in our area schools.
Program History:
Established in 1975 in Fort Myers Florida, the Dr. Piper Center continues to carry out the visions Dr. Ella Piper left for the community. Her love for the community motivated Ella to leave her property to the city of Ft. Myers with the stipulation it be used to provide a place for children and the elderly. Although Dr. Piper died in 1954, her legacy lives on at the Dr. Piper Center, which was dedicated in june 1976.
