Mission Statement:
RSVP’s mission is to provide rewarding volunteer opportunities to residents over the age of 55; while simultaneously helping meet community needs.
Philosophy/Belief Statement:
We believe that our senior population has a wealth of knowledge, experience, and talents that can be utilized to the fullest extent to help local community needs such as student academic success, seniors maintaining independence in living, seniors getting necessary nutrition & medical care through programs such as our Vol Med Transportation Program, Meals on Wheels, & Senior CARES Program. Also, avoidance of senior fraud through training and education in partnership with our State Attorney General's Consumer Advocacy Unit.
Program History:
The Greater Hartford/Central CT Retired Senior Volunteer Program has been under the sponsorship and in operation since 1987.
Events:
APPLICATION PROCESS
Individuals may apply to become an RSVP volunteer by calling (860)519-3484, emailing to: strongt@crtct.org, or visiting our website at www.crtct.org, (go to Senior Services, then RSVP).
We will then schedule your RSVP orientation which takes approximately 1-2 hours (at which time we provide you with all the information contained in our Policy & Procedure Manual & help you decide which volunteer opportunity best meets your individual needs).
After you have completed our RSVP orientation, you will then be scheduled for your specific station site orientation, and you’re on your way as a new RSVP Volunteer changing lives…..
