Program Highlights:
Volunteers For Peace is a non-profit organization that facilitates the exchange of volunteers to work towards a more peaceful world through international voluntary service. With over 3000 projects available in more than 100 countries every year, VFP sends US and Canadian volunteers abroad to engage with local communities and volunteers from at least four other nations while meeting a local need. The focus of these projects is to increase cultural understanding, build relationships among international volunteers and accomplish a tangible goal in the community. The type of work varies from construction work to planting trees to working with kids and much more!
A recent volunteer described, "It was an experience of a lifetime, and was a great way to learn about different cultures. The bonds I formed with these people will continue to stay with me through the years! The people who came from South Korea, France, Germany, Slovakia, Spain, Mexico, and Italy all made this project unforgettable! I highly recommend VFP if you are looking for a way to volunteer your time while meeting people and learning about different cultures."
Top country destinations include Iceland, Haiti, Germany, France, Japan, Kenya, India, andMexico but volunteer projects exist on almost every continent! Most projects are for 2-3 weeks, but there are medium-term and long-term placements available as well, up to 1 year.
