Philosophy/Belief Statement:
Our Vision: The Tech, by what it does directly and through others, helps build a civil society that enables everyone, especially low-income young people, to succeed in a world driven by technology.
Program History:
The Tech Interactive is a family-friendly science and technology center in the heart of downtown San Jose. Our hands-on activities, experimental labs and design challenge experiences empower people to innovate with creativity, curiosity and compassion. The Tech is a world leader in the creation of immersive STEAM education resources to develop the next generation of problem-solvers locally, nationally and globally. We believe that everyone is born an innovator who can change the world for the better.
Events:
Volunteer Orientations and Trainings are held twice per month. There is a 75-minute online orientation you can attend virtually, and a 2.5 hour training and tour at The Tech. Potential volunteers need to attend both events before volunteering.
Additional Information:
The Tech Interactive in Downtown San Jose Needs Volunteers Like You!
Do you have the desire to learn and teach others about STEAM (science, technology, engineering, art, or math)? If so, then The Tech might be the perfect place for you to volunteer! The Tech Interactive is home to one-of-a-kind learning experiences, and our volunteers help people of all ages and backgrounds discover their inner innovators and problem solvers.
Curious about what you could be doing? You could greet guests as they enter The Tech Interactive, help take tickets and share information about our amazing IMAX films, teach others about social robots, or even inspire the next astronaut by operating our jet-pack chair!
If you have a passion for innovation and enjoy talking to others, this is the place for you! You don't need any prior science or technology knowledge to volunteer with us; you’ll attend an online orientation and in-person tour, and receive hands-on training when you start.
If you are at least 15 years old and would like to apply for our positions, please visit our website, thetech.org/volunteer to find our Adult (18+ years old) or High School (15 - 17 years old) applications. If you have any questions or need assistance, please email volunteer@thetech.org.
