In 1970, the American Diabetes Association diversified and welcomed members and volunteers. Soon after, the Association welcomed nurses, dietitians and other health care professionals. Today, because of the dedication of its volunteers and staff, the American Diabetes Association is the nation’s leading nonprofit health organization providing diabetes research, information, advocacy and public awareness.
