Philosophy/Belief Statement:
The Catholic Volunteers in Florida annually conducts Retreat/Workshop & Formation Programming. These events are an integral part of CVIF in-field support activities. Volunteers commit to attendance at these events prior to joining the service experience. This is the most important time that the volunteers spend working in community on growth in the five program goal areas: Doing Justice, Living Simply, Active Spirituality, Creating Community and Personal Growth. This growth begins for all volunteers during the application process and during the individualized orientation/interview process. It is the program's hope that through a full-time one-year service commitment each volunteer will be strengthened in their life-long effort to be involved in the struggle for dignity, justice, and peace.

Additional Information:
Valarie Amica, Program Director for Catholic Volunteers in Florida.
Catholic Volunteers in Florida is dedicated to providing people the opportunity to live out their faith by serving those with the greatest need. Catholic Volunteers (CVs) work towards justice and peace, positively transforming the communities they serve was well as themselves.
CVs serve a one-year full-time commitment and are involved in social work, shelters, health care, food banks, legal services, teaching, working with migrant workers, and in other fields. Each Volunteer's placement is a careful match between their skills and interests, the needs of the service sites and available resources. Placement is made to facilitate each volunteer's response to a "call" to service. Full-time volunteerism demands flexibility, commitment and vision-it is much more than a "job."
Volunteers receive a monthly stipend and meal allowance. Health insurance and suitable housing is also provided.
