Mission Statement:
Found is a 501(c)3 non-profit rescue and re-homing center focused on individualized medical and behavioral rehabilitation for homeless dogs and cats that would otherwise be euthanized
Philosophy/Belief Statement:
In 2009, Chicago alone destroyed over 10,000 dogs and cats who were healthy, or had a treatable behavioral or medical condition because no one was willing to give them the extra rehabilitation and care they needed. As a no-kill center, Found is diligently working to change that through our mission to rescue, rehabilitate, and re-home.
Through this vital work, Found:
-saves lives
-enhances the human-animal bond
-ensures successful and long-term re-homing
-gives back to the community through humane education programs
Program History:
Found has been in operation since December 2009.
Events:
Each year, Found hosts Day of the Dog, a fall block party and fundraiser for pets and pet lovers. In January, Found will host it's first annual Humane Awards.
Additional Information:
Thank you for your interest in helping homeless dogs and cats by volunteering with Found Chicago! Found is a non-profit organization dedicated to rescuing, rehabilitating, and re-homing animals in need. We are so grateful that you want to become a part of our life-saving work and dedicate your time to helping homeless animals.
There are many ways to get involved as a volunteer with Found. You can work with animals at our facility as a Dog Walker or Dog Socialization Assistant; you can help with fundraising efforts or special events planning; or you can serve as a community outreach volunteer and help us spread the word about Found! Choose a volunteer path that is right for you and become an ambassador for our homeless animals in the process.
*To become a volunteer for Found you must first fill out a volunteer application online (accessible at www.foundchicago.org/volunteer/vapplication) and then attend an orientation. Orientations are held every month on a Thursday evening or Saturday morning.
