Choose Your Pathway: Volunteer Directly with Girls:
Today’s Girl Scouts have six pathways in which girls can realize their full potential. What new paths will you explore together? Whatever you choose, you will be making a lasting impact on the lives of girls:
CAMP. Share your appreciation of nature. Hike. Bike. Canoe. You can camp by day or overnight. (Short-term)
- Program Trainers – Train adults to deliver Girl Scout outdoor programs.
- Program Facilitators – Deliver outdoor programs to girls.
- Program Support – Assist facilitators in delivering outdoor programs to girls.
- Certified Program Facilitators – Deliver certification programs such as lifeguard and First Aid/CPR to adults.
- Camp Watch – Be a camp host for specific camp events.
EVENTS. Have high energy but limited availability? Choose your favorite topics and help girls unleash their potential. Volunteer for one event or many. (Short-term)
- Event Director – Plan and organize girl events, and provide support for event volunteers, while implementing council policies and procedures within a budget.
- Event Volunteer – Assist in the planning and/or implementation of events.
SERIES. Love the environment? Building a business? Marine biology? The arts? Meet with girls four to eight times, sharing your passion and knowledge in a way that fits your schedule. (Short-term)
- Series Program Coordinator – Work with a volunteer team and council staff to ensure that volunteers, staff and girls receive support and/or training that will enable smooth delivery of the series program pathway
- Series Program Facilitator – Delivers a series program to girls.
TRAVEL. Expand girls’ horizons. Whether you help plan a trip across the state or around the world, you’ll all remember the adventure forever. (Long-term: 12-24 months)
- Lead Trip Advisor – Work with a volunteer team and the Travel Pathway Committee or council staff to ensure that all aspects of a Girl Scout trip are effectively planned and executed with appropriate follow-up.
TROOP. Partner with girls who meet regularly as they share amazing experiences and make a difference in their communities and the world. (Long-term: 9-12 months)
- Troop Leader & Assistant Leader – Work as a positive adult role model, in partnership with girls and adults, to facilitate activities to meet contemporary needs of girls consistent with the Girl Scout program.
VIRTUAL. Girl Scouting via the Internet? Become a virtual volunteer and help bring exciting interactive activities to girls everywhere. (Short-term)
Choose your Pathway: Volunteer with Adults in Support of Girls:
Would you rather volunteer behind the scenes instead of directly with girls? There are many opportunities to support the volunteers who serve the girls:
Administrative. Manage, support and recognize volunteers in your community. (Long-term: 9-12 months)
Fundraising. Promote and advance the Girl Scout movement through family and corporate donations. (Long-term: 9-12 months)
Trainer. Coordinate and facilitate learning opportunities for volunteers. (Short-term)
Council Committee. There are various opportunities to participate on committees that help to direct council-wide Girl Scout operations. (Long-term: 12-24 months)
