Mission Statement:
The American Cancer Society is the nationwide, community-based, voluntary health organization dedicated to eliminating cancer as a major health problem by preventing cancer, saving lives, and diminishing suffering from cancer, through research, education, advocacy, and service.

Program History:
The American Cancer Society has programs and services to help people with cancer and their loved ones understand cancer, manage their lives through treatment and recovery, and find the emotional support they need. And best of all, our help is free.
The American Cancer Society has been providing patients, thru local resource like the Hernando Gift Room, with much needed supplies and referral information for decades. The Hernando Gift Room opened in the summer of 2009.
Events:
A ribbon-cutting event will take place on Thursday, November 9, 2010 at noon. The event will CELEBRATE MORE BIRTHDAYS and the one year plus anniversary of the Hernando Gift Room. All are welcome to attend!
