Additional Information:
Our Greeting Card Program is a great opportunity for people of all ages to perform a simple act of kindness for people in our communtiy. Volunteers purchase or make homemade cards to give to our senior citizens and teachers. A gift of a Valentines Day Card, a Mother's Day Card, a Father's Day Card, or a Holiday card is a great way for us to remember our elderly population. Giving a card to teacher's on the first day of school is a great way to show our appreciation for our teachers.
Our Woman's Social is a special event that can include young woman. It's a time when women of all ages can dress up and have a tea party.
The table is set with pretty tea cups and dishes and perhaps flowers on the table. Drinking tea in pretty tea cups, eating finger sandwiches and fancy desserts is all part of a ladies social luncheon. To have three or fours generation of women together to talk creates a fond memory for everyone.
Our Lap Blanket program is a great way for young people to learn how to knit or crochet, or sew. Our volunteers make homemade lap blankets and they are donated to the children staying at the Ronald McDonald House and Womem in Distress safe house. These blankets provide comfort to children who have cancer or children who have been uprooted from their home for a period of time. This is great opportunity to pass on the skill of knitting, crocheting, or sewing, and to perform an act of kindness for these children.
Free Hair Cut Sundays provides opportunities for people that are not professional hairstylists. Volunteers act as host and hostesses by providing snacks for our guests and our volunteers. There also an opportunity for those who are interested in photography, we need photographers to capture these special acts of kindness. Volunteers are also needed to play with the children while they are waiting for their free haircut.
